dialogues for one BIBLIOGRAPHY

dialogues for one is based on research that underpins the LAMELLA:// project which I am currently working on.

I initially wrote the text to satisfy academic requirements, and consequently, every source and quotation was diligently referenced. In the version I have published as a booklet, however, I ask the words I’ve written to exist without their usual academic buttressing. Perhaps, ostensibly, this is down to space along with a desire to share the text outside of academia. My deliberate montage approach would mean a bibliography with almost as many pages as the main body. And people outside academia may be turned off by an endless list of dense and esoteric sounding titles. But there is something more to it. And that is my commitment to détournement, which, as McKenzie Wark (2016; p.13) – whom I do reference here – explains when he himself quotes The Situationists while referencing Alexander Bogdanov, when he includes “the practice of taking all of past culture and knowledge to be a commons, as always and already belonging to all of us”. Of course, the authors I sampled deserve respect and attention. I am grateful to each of them for recording their thoughts, ideas, arguments and speculations, many of which I have subsequently and unashamedly appropriated. And I am aware that interested parties may find a bibliography useful. So while there is no systemic referencing in the booklet, only blatant remix and sampling, here is the bibliography I included in my academic research when submitting for grades (with two or three additional titles). If you are looking for a specific quote, you can access the original document with all the footnotes and references here.
